Can I get a breast lift without implants?

Tracy M. Pfeifer, MD answers: Breast lift without implants?

I'm happy with the size of my breasts, but they could definitely be perkier. Can I get a breast lift without implants?

You are my favorite type of patient for a breast lift.  You are happy with your size in a bra and thus, most likely, do not need implants.  There are some patients who are happy with their size in a bra but a lot of the volume is from excess skin, which of course, will be removed during the lift.  These patients need a SMALL implant.  Discuss it with your board certified plastic surgeon.  I prefer to do a lift without an implant whenever possible.  The implant has a weight and thus works against the results of the lift!  Good luck.

If you're sagging or asymmetrical, and are looking for perkiness, you'll need a lift--or, if you also want more volume, a lift and implants. A breast lift raises droopy breasts from one to several inches and excess skin is removed. If you just want to go bigger, the only way to do that is with implants. The great thing about these techniques is that they can now be down with minimal scarring and performed as an outpatient procedure without the need for general anesthesia.
