What if you decided to explant? Will your breasts sag?

This is a question that varies from individual to individual. There are many factors that should be considered:

  • age
  • length of time implants were in
  • size of implants compared to original breast size
  • capsular contractures
  • pregnancy
  • etc...

If the implants were small, you were young, you had reasonable sized breasts to begin with, and only recently had them placed, then I would probably say no, they wouldn't sag much.

The opposite is true for large implants, older person, no original breast tissue, etc.

A: Removing Implants can result in sag

I have had several patients decide to remove their implants with mixed results. Several things to consider include;

1. If the implant volume is very large, it will cause them to sag.

2. If you had the implants placed to eliminate a sag, then the sag will return.

3. If you had babies after the implants were placed, sag is likely.

4. If you recently had an implant that was not too big, and you were not saggy and did not have a baby then your chances of looking good are possible.
