Brazilian butt lift... blame it on Rio!

B. Pat Pazmino, M.D., F.A.C.S. answers: Brazilian butt lift - how is this different from a regular butt lift?

So how is a Brazilian butt lift different from any other type of butt lift?  How many types are there?  Is there some sort of regular butt lift that is different or better?

I just want my booty to look rounder and more of the Apple Bottom look... is that Brazilian?

There are several ways to improve the appearance of the butt and gluteal regions. In the past, surgeons have used butt implants, which are solid firm silicone pieces. These implants carried the risk of extrusion (coming out of the incision), infection, and displacement. Also, depending on how they were inserted, they could affect the muscles of the butt, as well.

In my practice, a butt augmentation is performed with a "Brazilian butt lift." I perform this as a combination of liposuction and fat grafting.

The first part of the process involves liposuction to the waist, lumbosacral area, thighs, flanks and hips. This fat is then processed and added to the gluteal region a few milliliters at a time.

My patients appreciate their "Brazilan butt lift" because their waist is more narrow, their hips and flanks have been reshaped and they have more prominence in their gluteal region. Many of them call this a "bubble butt," or here in Miami, a "J-Lo butt." They appreciate the way they look in jeans, bikinis, and pants and the way this balances their figure.
