Botox neck lift only improves small residual neck bands

Scott Trimas, MD answers: Botox neck lift

I read about a Botox neck lift. What is this and does it work? I thought Botox was for frown lines?

Botox neck lift only improves small residual neck bands typically after a facelift or necklift. In some patients, they can have small bands that extend below their chin in a vertical fashion. These can sometimes be treated with botox injections which weakens the muslce there and allows it to rest further back in the neck giving the illusion of a slight lift. The results are variable and typically last from 3 to six months depending upon the patient. However, it will not lift loose pockets of skin or fat and in some patients the improvement with botox is very subtle.
