Botox for chin dimpling

Kenneth R. Francis, MD answers: Botox for chin dimpling?

I have several deep dimples in my chin, and I've heard Botox could get rid of them. What do you think?

It depends on whether the dimples are genetically present, i.e. present even in your youth or young adulthood, or have developed over years of chin muscle use.  Botox does work well for the latter.  It is also effective in correcting the skin pitting (orange peel skin) that occurs with age on the chin.  Good luck!

A: Botox can work great for chin dimpling

Patients who get dimpling of the chin from pursing their lips and over-contraction of the chin muscles can get great results from low dose Botox. This should be used very carefully since it is near the mouth. Also it is an "off label" use so it really is being used by your doctor based on their knowledge and experience with Botox and your understanding that it is not specifically FDA approved for this use.

Botox works well for chin dimples or wrinkling.  However, make sure that you are being injected by an experienced injector.  Too much Botox around the mouth can lead to abnormal function and look of the mouth and lips.  Good luck.

Botox for chin dimpling can be easily done.  It is only good for animation lines. If it is a dimple from a dermal depression, it will not be treated successfully by botox.

Botox can be very helpful in reducing dimpling of the chin.  This works by relaxing the muscles which are contributing to the fold.  In some cases, a small amount of filler in addition to Botox will completely smooth out that line.  Good luck, /nsn.
