Blackheads are also medically called "open comedones" . Thus medicine that is "comedolytic" is appropriate for these areas. An example of such medicine is retin A or differin gel. Other ways to treat comedones include "extraction" using a comedo extractor. This is often done in a dermatologist office or by an experienced esthetician.
