Edward D. Buckingham, MD answers: Asymmetrical nostrils after septorhinoplasty?

I had a septorhinoplasty 5 months ago, I feel more conscious about my new nose than my old one it looks completely different on each side and i hate the view from the front as my right nostril is noticeably larger then the left.

I also feel that my nose is not small enough, I cant afford to have another surgery. What are my rights on having corrective surgery and can my nostrils be made the same size??

Certain parts of your question cannot be answered such as your rights or the difficulty you are having with self-consciousness. Most of the time your surgeon will be willing to perform a revision surgery if improvement can be made for the facility and anesthesia charges or perhaps even less. It is usually possible to make the nostrils symmetric although not always. That also applies to the size of the nose. Sometimes it can only be made so small and after that you risk affecting function. I would plan to have an open discussion with your surgeon to answer your questions and determine if a revision surgery is appropriate.
