Should you get high profile implants?

Cynthia Poulos, MD answers: Are high profile breast implants advisable for my build?

I am 5'11, have a 37 in ribcage, B-cup size, and weigh 175 lbs. I was recommended a 550cc High Profile silicone breast implants but I wonder if going HP will make my breasts have a less natural-looking outcome. I originally wanted low profile but was recommended a high profile due to my size. In your opinion, is a natural look achievable given my build and is a high profile recommended? Thanks.

I chose the implants based on the patient's desired outcome,by having them bring in pictures of how they hope to appear. I combine this with a series of measurements that allow me to tailor the implant selection to their body proportions.

In general, the patients that end up having high profile implants, are usually somewhat petite, with a narrow frame and want a full projection ( i.e. they want to be fairly big), but they want to minimize how wide the implant projects past the side of the chest wall.

Given your height and weight, you can probably carry a 550cc implant with looking over done. It is very difficult to predict bra size so I don't guarantee that a particular implant will put you in to a certain cup. The more breast tissue and subcutaneous tissue you have, the more natural you are likely to appear with any style implant.

Be as specific as you can with your doctor so they can understand what look you are aiming for.
