Otto Joseph Placik, MD answers: Can Tummy Tuck remove a surgery scar?

I have a vertical scar from approximately the top of my rib cage, down passed my navel just above my underwear line. It is an operation scar from a splenectomy and in my opinion it is hideous. Can a Tummy Tuck or any form of plastic surgery remove it or lessen its appearance?

A tummy tuck can remove some or all of the scars below the level of the belly button. However, there are methods to completely remove a scar from the rib cage down to the pubic bone.

The scar can be revised but it cannot be eliminated.
