Raised Bumps After 70% Glycolic Acid Peel - Why?

I had a 70% glycolic acid peel. Immediately, I saw many little raised white bumps. Also within an hour they turned bright red and bumpy and rough. It is now 48 hours later and the skin is still really bumpy and rough. What have I done to my skin?
