I am 18 years old and I wear 32G. I am 5'2, 125 lbs and wear a size 2. My breasts are real and they have been causing me a good deal of back pain for about six months. Would a breast reduction be a good option for me? And if so, is there a good chance insurance would cover it?

Bresat reduction
Based upon your description it sounds very possible that a breast reduction may be the right choice for you. Of course, an exam and discussion would be the best way to determine if this is the case.

Breast reduction surgery could be a great option for you
From the information that you provide, you appear to be an excellent candidate for a breast reduction. Given your apparent massive and disproportionately large breast size, symptoms will only get worse with time and the detrimental effects on your body can be permanent.

Juvenile Breast Reduction
Thank you for the question.
It sounds like you are dealing with juvenile breast hypertrophy along with the physical and psychosocial consequences of this diagnosis. In other words, the breasts are too large for the frame causing both physical and psychological distress.

You are too young to go through life with back pain, and should seriously
Consider breast reduction whether or not it is covered by insurance. Given you overall size compared with the size of your breasts, and given the fact that at such a young age you are already experiencing significant symptoms due to the large size of your breasts, a reduction could make a big difference in your life. As far as insurance goes, the key to getting coverage by your insurance carrier is documenting symptoms such as back pain, neck and shoulder pain, and / or skin...

Breast reduction can alleviate back pain
Dear Annabama,
You certainly would qualify for insurance covered breast reduction, however, you must establish 'proof' of need. Document, document, document! Most insurance carriers require documentation from other specialists before surgery is granted. So, get your primary, orthopedist, chiropractor, or pain specialists involved. Remember it is the insurance company's job to deny you and your job to make a 'case' for your surgery. Make sure all your symptoms are well...

Good Candidate For Breast Reduction
You seem to be an excellent candidate for a breast reduction surgery with your petiteness and very large breasts and back pain. Your surgery should be covered by most insurance companies. Some companies will require a trial of conservative therapy even though this usually is only a delaying tactic. Other policies may have an outright exclusion for reductions. Obtain a consultation with a BC plastic surgeon who can help you sort through this.

80% of breast reduction questions on RealSelf are about insurance coverage. Here are some helpful points.
1) Insurance companies try very hard not to pay for breast reduction, even though they should. Even small breast reductions relieve many symptoms such as back pain and shoulder pain, and even some types of headaches.
2) Very big reductions (like from an F cup to a...

Breast reduction surgery works well for patients your size.
Breast reduction surgery works well for the problems you have described, from my vantage point, over the Internet. After the procedure you may find it easier to excercise and strengthen you the muscles that support your back. I have had patients come in and tell my their back pain is gone 48 hours after surgery. Every patient has a different set of variables, but carrying the weight of a G cup, in my opinion, is never healthy. Breast reduction...

Breast reduction can alleviate back pain
I recommend consulting with a board certified plastic surgeon to see if you are a good candidate for a breast reduction. It sounds like you are not overweight, so a breast reduction may be the solution for your back pain. Depending on the amount of tissue to be removed and your health insurance plan, this may be covered. A board certified plastic surgeon can help you answer these questions during an initial consultation. Breast reduction can be a very rewarding procedure in the right patient...
