51 Year Old Male Suddenly Experiencing Acne. What's The Cause? Treatment Options?

Recently I have been experiencing an increase in acne. I am a 51 year old male and it seems to be getting worse rather than better. Never had major problem but this is crazy at my age. Any ideas, suggestions? Could this be a sign of something more serious?

Acne Developing as an Adult

The sudden appearance of acne as an adult may be due to an underlying systemic cause or due to an exogenous agent such as hormonal supplements. I recommend being evaluated and treated by a board certified dermatologist so the underlying cause can be investigated and an appropriate treatment regimen tailored to your individual condition.

Acne at an older age

Although we often think of acne as a teenage and hormonal problem, quite frankly, you can get acne at any age. Your best bet is to schedule an appointment with a board-certified dermatologist. Most likely you need some type of prescription medication, and it's better to start treating it sooner rather than later!
