4-5 Days Ago I Asked How Long It Would Take to Deflate a Saline Implant.

Based on the answers I attempted to deflate the implant myself. I used 25g 1" needles used for injecting B12 puncturing 6 time in different areas around my breast. I have seen little if any difference in the size of the left breast that I punctured. I expected to see at least some difference if not quite a bit by now based on your answers. What could be the problem? Thanks for your help! :-)

Deflating your implant on your own: Implants remarkably resistant to puncture!

First, I do not advise you doing this on your own. Having said that, I have delfated implants in the office and have been impressed with their resilience. I have punctured the same implant on several different days multiple times with a 18G, 16g and 14g needle and they still did not deflate. AT the time of removal, it only leaked when squeezed.

Be careful - do not try it yourself at home!

As I too may have answered your initial question thinking it was related to a question on saline implant integrity, i do NOT recommend you try this at home.  As one of my colleagues Dr. Aldea has clearly written, implant deflation is NOT a do-it-yourself project.  You can definitely risk infection, bleeding, or injury to your lungs (pneumothorax) and create  life-threatening problems.  Please seek the attention of a plastic surgeon in your area.

Self-deflation of implant not working? Here's why.

You only need one needle hole, by the way. 6 punctures just increased your risk of infection, and then you will really need to see your plastic surgeon, who would be justifiably hesitant to operate and assume responsibility for your ill-advised act. Your doctor would have likely done this for you for free, so why did you feel you had to do this yourself? At any rate, the hole made by a 25g needle is quite small, and silicone has a self-sealing tendency, especially if there is not... more

See a plastic Surgeon ASAP

I am very concerned about the possibility of infection.  I would recommend seeing someone to have the implant properly deflated or even removed under local anesthesia.  This is not a do it yourself program on TV but something that can lead to serious problems.  Dr. Schuster from Boca Raton

It's best not to do procedures on yourself!

I'm not sure why you felt like you need to do this yourself.  Here are some of the risks: infection, bleeding, pneumothorax.  A plastic surgeon could accomplish this safely in the office and aspirate the fluid from the implant, and it would take about 10 seconds.

Why do you want to deflate your implants?

I would recommend that you see a plastic surgeon to deflate your implants . The risk of sever infection of the breast tissue or implant pocket is high without sterile technique.
