3 options for raising your brows

Jonathan Hoenig, MD answers: Mini-brow lift vs. Full Face Lift?

I am interested in a mini-brow lift, but I'm also wondering if a full face lift makes more sense. I have a high forehead and, and I don't want to make it higher. Also, I am only 33, so  and don't know if I should wait; on one hand, I still get carded when buying alcohol, on the other hand I feel like I look somewhat tired. When I lift up the outer edges of my eyebrows, I think I look better. I am petrified that something will go wrong  (like asymmetry, 'alien' look, etc), and after reading other people's stories, it seems that many saw no effect at all. Any guidance?

First of all, for the concerns you're describing (and your current age), a facelift is not an option.Good options for you would be a botox browlift, a temple lift, or a trichophytic (hairline) browlift.

In the first option, Botox is placed below the outer tail of the eyebrows to relax the muscle that pulls the brows down. In the temple lift, a small incision is made in the scalp near the temple to raise the outer edge of the brow. In the hairline browlift, the whole forehead can be raised (or just the sides, depending on what you need) with an incision just along the hairline where the forehead meets the hair. With this technique, I can remove a strip of skin and raise the brows while at the same time reducing your forehead.

I presume that at 33 years old you are probably not in need of a tradational facelift although there certainly are exceptions to the rules and variations of facelifting. There are people who have periorbital features that suggest tiredness or early aging with sagging of the outer part of the upper eyelid or eyebrow.

Some patient with high foreheads centrally have low hairlines laterally and this might be ideal for a lateral brow lift. Depending on your sikn type and presence or abscence of wrinkle, laser resurfacing make also lift your brows without changing your forehead.

Visit a few surgeons who do facial work and discuss your specific anatomical situation and needs. You obviously need a very customized approach, as do most patients.
