Breast Reduction - in Teens

Although 15 is younger than the average breast reduction patient, and it would be a little unusual, it is by no means unheard of. From a physical standpoint, if your symptoms are appropriate indications for a breast reduction, then you should be able to consider one. Those symptoms are most commonly neck, back and shoulder pain, rashes, bra strap grooving, etc. However, there are two issues that are unusual and that merit additional discussion: 1) As a 15 year old... more

Breast reduction in minors

Yes, breast reductions can be done on patients that are 15 years old. Insurance compaines authorize breast reductions based on symptoms and weight removal determined by body surface area. You may not meet insurance criteria for the weight to be removed. However, if you are in pain and you want it done you can pay for it yourself. Best of Luck, Gary Horndeski, M.D.

Actual "damage" should be looked at by a neurologist, who will usually recommend reduction if they feel that is a contributing factor. More relevant is the question, should 15 year olds have reduction? Sometimes you are not done growing and if you have a reduction your breasts will... more

Breast reduction if still growing

Bambi, I have treated about 10 patients like you, including two sisters 3 years apart. They were both very large and still growing. They were bothered by the weight of the breast and that they were always stared at for their breast size. If you have your parents support, I would look into having a breast reduction. If you are still growing then I would consider a liposuction breast reduction, at least to reduce the weight and size. If your skin is good you may... more

Breast reduction at the age of 15

I have performed full breast reductions in patients of your age. I think it can be a surgery that offers an excellent improvement in your symptoms even at a younger age if the person is the right candidate. I prefer that the patient is skeletally mature (meaning, no longer growing taller) and that the breast size is quite excessive but stabilizing. The patient herself also has to be mature enough to take in the full discussion regarding risks of surgery and have a good... more

Scarless breast reduction

If, and only if you have your families support look into Scarless Breast reduction. This is liposuction only Leaving a tiny scar beneath the breast. I have done this Several times in early teenagers And it could be a Reasonable alternative to a traditional Reduction.
