Dr. Harvey Abrams grew up in New York City. He studied medicine at Hahnemann Medical College in Philadelphia, PA, graduating in 1975. Upon completion of his internship in Internal Medicine and his residencies in Neurology and Psychiatry he joined the full-time academic teaching faculty at Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana. Dr. Abrams went on to complete a three year residency in Dermatology in 1989 at which time he moved to Los Angeles to start a full-time private practice.
