This patient has been on hormone therapy and you can see that his breasts have changed dramatically with the hormone treatment... and the larger breasts that he had as a female are now ready to be removed to give him the male chest that he desires. If a genetic woman has small breasts, then there is little need to do the mastectomies such as seen in this case. The scars can vary widely but I find that the best ones are made at the crease of the breast. The tissue is then elevated with the breast tissue off of the muscle and then "redraped" so as to allow the removal of all of the breast tissue. This leaves the chest completely flat. The nipples that were removed and set aside can then be brought back to the predetermined position on the chest wall and dressings applied. This patient is seen in the very early stages of scar maturity at six weeks post op. more »
