This patient is a 19-year-old girl who is 5'6" tall, and presents with a 5 year history of severe macromastia. The... patient has had large breasts since she went through puberty, and she suffers from chronic neck, shoulder, and back pain, which limit her ability to perform sports, and also causes depressions in her shoulders. The slide demonstrates large breasts with hanging of the breasts below the infra-mammary fold onto the abdomen, such that they are approximately halfway between the end of the breast on her chest wall and her belly button. Postoperative photographs - Her breasts now sit higher on the chest wall and the nipple areola complexes have been reduced. If you look closely you can see a faint scar going around the nipple and down the center of the breast. In most of these patients, this will heal in a very faint fashion and be very acceptable. more »
