Hair Loss Level: NW 3 with previous hair transplants Surgery: The patient had a previous hair transplant surgery at another clinic which utilized the follicular unit strip surgery ( FUSS ) technique. This surgery left him with a linear scar he wanted to camouflage as well as an unnatural looking hairline he wanted me to refine. I repaired him back to a natural looking state by using 1500 head and nape hair grafts on the hairline and 300 beard derived grafts. Using the follicular unit extraction ( FUE ) method of hair restoration of SFET, I am able to conduct facial hair transplantation by transplanting beard hair to any area of need. Lessons: I have found that Beard hair derived grafts are a valuable resource in repairing patients with widened strip scars resulting from follicular unit hair transplantation ( FUT ) . By grafting these scars with beard hair, their appearance is minimized. He has also found nape hair to be a valuable resource in the creation of subtle soft natural looking hairlines.
