Liquid Facelift For Less Than $10/Day

Orange County dermatologist Lorrie Klein MD talked on Daytime OC about what you can do at home and in your dermatologist's office to look younger without surgery.

A non-surgical face lift or "liquid lift," according to Dr. Klein, if you figure out the cost per day over how long the results last, it's less than $10 per day to maintain. She says, "that's three Starbucks!"

Dr. Klein says the first thing is to "try to prevent wrinkles and use sunscreen SPF 30 or higher, first thing in the morning, every day and don't get out of the habit in the wintertime!"

The biggest wrinkle fighters available are Botox, and fillers like Juvederm and Radiesse. You choose which products depending on what the wrinkles are, how deep they are, and how long you want treatment to last.

If you're looking for the longest lasting, Dr. Klein says ArteFill is permanent, although they're only allowed to say it lasts 5 years, but it will "most likely be there longer than five years."

Who should be applying these things? Anybody with an MD or an RN can do injections, but you should look for a board certified cosmetic specialist with an artistic eye - a dermatologist, plastic surgeon, or facial plastic surgeon.

At home, age spots can be treated with bleaching products like Obagi, but in the office, Dr. Klein says you can do photo facial or IPL to effectively lighten the brown spots.
