Oklahoma City doctors shift attention to cosmetic treatments

The June 1 Oklahoman featured two local Oklahoma City physicians who left their specialties to pursue aesthetic medicine.

In the past, many Oklahomans have had to venture to Dallas just to locate qualified Botox or Juvederm providers, and even more recently for treatments like Smart Lipo.

Dr. Stacey Hedlund, a pediatrician, got into aesthetics after taking a Botox training course several years ago. Her medical spa, the Epiphanea Center for Aesthetic Medicine, is located in Oklahoma City and offers treatments for skin resurfacing, lipodissolve, Botox, Juvederm, permanent makeup and more.

Dr. Amy Gregory, owner of First Glance Medical Spa in Norman, revealed that anyone thinking of opening a medical spa should be ready to invest at least $500k because lasers carry a hefty price tag.

Dr. Gregory headed straight for aesthetic medicine after completing a degree in osteopathic medicine and one-year residencies in dermatology and plastic surgery.
