A Revolution in Eyelashes: Latisse Lash Lengthener

A Revolution in Eyelashes: Latisse Lash Lengthener
Eva S on Jan 23, 2009

Anastasia Soare, the founder of the Anastasia Beverly Hills cosmetics line, is often referred to as "the definitive brow expert" by beauty industry insiders.

Anastasia recently commented on Latisse eyelash lengthener, a new lash-growing formula available from Allergan, better known for wrinkle reducer Botox and lip plumper Juvederm. Latisse eyelash lengthener is now available from doctors in the US

Transformational lash results

Soare states that she's "seen the results of Latisse firsthand and truly believes it's going to change the way women see eyes."

Allergan is banking on this eyelash revolution, predicting global sales of Latisse exceeding $500 million annually.

The price of longer lashes

A 30-day supply will cost $120, in contrast with other lash-enhancing products like Revitalash, which costs about the same for a 4-6 month supply.

By prescription only

Latisse is available by prescription only, and is recommended as a once-daily treatment. Beverly Hills plastic surgeon, Brent Moelleken, MD points out that while Latisse has completed FDA trials, "we don't have data from widespread clinical use."

Dr. Moelleken's office will dispense Latisse shipments in monthly increments in order to monitor patient results.  "There may come a time when Latisse can be prescribed for long periods of time without significant worry once the safety profile has been established," says Moelleken.

I was a big fan of the Jan Marini eyelash product that stopped selling after allergan sued Marini. Anyone know if latisse is the same thing as the Marini eyelash lengtherner?

My understanding is that Jan Marini was inserting the ingredients that were patented by Allergan into her product, which is precisely why Marini was sued. Latisse is basically that product.

Jan Marini reformulated her lash conditioner a while back to remove bimatoprost, which Latisse is based on. Why would would anyone want to put a drug on their eye that gives you dark circles... I would think that out weighs having more eyelashes. Not to mention, why go through the hassle of a prescription when I can buy Revitalash from my salon??

Why risk putting anything on your eyes with the condition the FDA is in. It would not surprise me if people are blind in two years....Wear Mascara or get extensions.. Unless you are a cancer patient who lost there eyelashes...I'ts just not worth it...

Greedy is an understatement.LOL..But without knowing details it seems if they invested to create it they should get the profits.... I'm going to try the Revitalash... Do you know if it has the same side effects of eye color darkening ect.? Are their any other affects?? What is the active ingrediant? And are the results truly worth the money?? How much is it?? Thank you
