They're Calling It "No-Tox" Botox
Tampa plastic surgeon Michael Jasin explains that GFX is nicknamed "no-tox" because it uses radio waves instead of botulism toxin to achieve the same effects as Botox on wrinkles, but with longer lasting results.
Performed under local anesthesia, GFX combines electrical stimulation with radiofrequency energy to relax the frown muscles. The treatment is meant to reduce or eliminate frown lines and may also be used for forehead lines and brow elevation.
Tampa's NBC 30 in Tampa interviewed a 50-year-old woman frustrated by her deep furrows and tired of expensive quarterly Botox treatments.
Tampa plastic surgeon Michael Jasin was among the first in the country to test GFX, he says "We are now looking at a response rate of 80 to 90 percent. "
GFX reportedly causes minimal pain for the patient. The recipient featured in the news story says it was "just a little stinging from the injections and a little bit of heat, that's all."
She also says it wasn't anything really intense, but that you can expect some downtime because while GFX is minimally invasive, it is more invasive than Botox so you have to block a little more time on your schedule.
