Chicago Dermatologist Skeptical About Evolence
Real Beauty News on Nov 11, 2008

Chicago dermatologist Jonith Breadon, MD says Evolence seems to be one of these "too good to be true" products. It's surprising that she's so outspoken about it, because Breadon is also paid by the manufacturer to train other dermatologists on how to administer the hot new facial filler. Last month, ABC news in Chicago talked with her and other professionals about some concerns over popular dermal fillers.

Most doctors believe that FDA approved fillers are a safe bet, but some people have raised doubts about many of the newer products entering the market that haven't passed the test of time. California dermatologist Arnold Klein, who works for the manufacturer of Restylane, worries that "the FDA hasn't required enough research to prove the long term safety of some products."

According to ABC news, the Food and Drug Administration has a team set up to review issues related to dermal fillers. Of course, that doesn't mean you shouldn't watch out for yourself; what many doctors have claimed to be of utmost importance is making sure you get the right filler to suit your needs and getting the injection done by a trained professional. This will greatly reduce the chance of a complication.

Another Chicago dermatologist, Dr. Murad Alam advises to consider what results you desire when looking into a dermal filler. He says, some fillers "are thinner, some are thicker and some go in certain kinds of wrinkles at certain depths, higher or lower in the skin." So knowing exactly what you want from the procedure will probably help your provider determine which is the proper choice, if any at all.
