North Carolina Plastic Surgeon Invents the "Back Lift"
Back fat can be devastating. If you have it, you know it, and you remember when you realized that you have it. A Charlotte plastic surgeon has developed a new technique for a "back lift," a one hour surgery to remove excess skin and fat from the back.
Board certified North Carolina plastic surgeon Joseph P. Hunstad, MD reported on his new procedure in the October issue of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He says his operation "eliminates all the laxity," leaving the whole body "taut and smooth." During the procedure, the doctor makes a fine incision across the upper-middle of the back, "gathers up" every bit of relaxed skin and then removes it. This can be a section as large as ten inches.
Due to the necessary stitching of the incision, special post-operation precautions must be followed, but according to Dr. Hunstad, normal activity can be resumed in 3-4 days. Despite a high price ($7000-$20,000), the procedure is catching on and may be a good accompaniment to liposuction.
