Deflated Breast Implant Patients Choose Silicone Second Time Around
Marina Plastic Surgery in Los Angeles, California, recently conducted a study of 285 women who experienced a deflation of their saline breast implants. This study focused only on their own breast implant patients, who reside in the Beverly Hills and Los Angeles areas.
The breast implant failures occurred for a variety of reasons, including defective products, physical trauma, injury and other causes. The purpose of the study was to investigate the choices women made following a breast implant deflation and the additional procedures patients sought at the time of breast implant exchange.
Approximately 55 percent of patients replaced both implants after deflation. 60 percent of those patients switched from saline implants to the new silicone implants, and many of them opted for a larger size. Many were reimbursed for the cost of surgery by the implant manufacturer.
Facial procedures, breast lifts and liposuction were the most frequently chosen additional procedures to accompany the re-augmentation. About a third of the patients were frequent patrons, returning to the practice repeatedly within the 7 year study period.

In 1195, I had my breast augmented(400cc; saline) in San Diego. I have not been in any accidents and have not sustained a blow to any part of my body, however, today, I noticed one breast is about half the size of the other. A month ago I was laid off work and so do not currently have the money or insurance to pay for the cost of repair. 1.) What are my health concerns; and 2.) What are my options for immediate repair (considering the noticeably visible difference and, yet, my current financial situation?) Thanks.
