The Boston Herald reported that “an impairment issue” on June 27 prompted the firing of Dr. Loren J. Borud, a plastic surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Allegations concerning two previous impairment incidents date all the way back to 2001, including a state investigation of an unrelated “wrong-site surgery” performed at the Harvard affiliated hospital.
According to Kenneth Sands, the hospital’s senior vice president of health care quality, all preventative measures were taken to resolve the issues. He did not disclose any details on the specific nature of Dr. Borud’s impairment.
The main page of Dr. Borud's website says "Dr. Borud's website is under construction at this time. "
