After Mohs surgery last week I had a wound about the size of a quarter. The doctor gave me the option of stiitches or open wound. He said stitches would leave a long scar about 3,inches and is easier to get infected. He said an open wound would heal and gradually get smaller. The decision was so difficult. I didn’t feel like the doctor really advised me well and I am finding this gross open w...

I had MOHS surgery on the bridge of my nose in August. The scar is healing well but now I seem to have broken blood vessel's around the scar. Any suggestions for help with this would be greatly appreciated!!

Just don't know who to trust anymore as dermatology seems to be pretty much mostly about profit. Doctor biopsied the tiny growth, already leaving gouged out area on face, now wants to do Mohs, which would increase this huge divot (oh, but he has a cosmetic practice too, blahblahblah...), and I'm just wondering if there are less invasive alternatives, or if I can just leave it be. Tired of the...

I had dissolving stitches that were gone about a week ago. There remains a hole that doesn’t look like it’s healing at all. It doesn’t look infected but it looks raw like they just cut it out. Also, the dr cut once and said he got it all. Isn’t MOS supposed to be layer by layer? He’s a MOS Specialist too. I’m very scared

My reading on mohs says they take thin layer one at a time until removed. But every video seems to show the doctors going deep right off the bat. Afraid they will be overy aggressive on my nose

Hello, is it normal for the skin to become black after it undergone full thickness of skin grafting in my finger?

Day 8 after Moh's surgery on my nose:Hello everyone.  I got my 16 external stitches removed on my nose yesterday after a Moh's surgery for basal cell cancer.  The cancer was on the left tip of my nose.  I was happy with the scar, although it's big.  It looked pretty good.  This morning I woke up and saw what I didn't see yesterday. One nostril is now higher and bigger...

I live in N.H., but willing to travel anywhere in New England for the best surgeon. Thank you!

I feel like Mohs is now the knee-jerk reaction to pretty much everything these days, and as the dermatologist is diagnosing and prescribing and performing all in one fell swoop in his own office, plus has a cosmetic concern going on the side, I'm just not really trusting any of this anymore. Seems like I'm going to have a ravaged face for nothing and, frankly, I'd rather take my chances at...

I had mohs surgery on my forehead about 3 months ago.  The scar is healing nicely but I still have a small lump at the lower end of the incision.  It is soft and if I apply pressure it reduces but eventually comes back.  Is this normal after 3 months?

I got Mohs surgery on my forehead to remove basal cell carcinoma. It was a level 2. I had stitches the length of my pointer finger. It's been exactly 6 weeks today. I went in yesterday to get the stitches out because they never dissolved. The nurse was very short and all she said was to put sunblock on. The doctor had originally recommended a cream called biocornium. Since she said it was...

Dr. Baker showed me before and after pics and Dr. Yagoda did not.  She is friendly and he isn't so muchbut has much more experience.  I've been told my defect will be significant and I need to make the rightchoice.  What have you heard about each of their work?  Could you post the answer this week? Thanks,London girl

I'm scheduled for mohs and scared to death!!! Also because it's right on the front of my nose my dr is referring me to a plastic surgeon the day after. I need stories please. What to expect.. Good stories and bad. Please don't sugar coat. Also numbing stuff doesn't work on me I'm a red head so I'm nervous about that too

I believe I should have a Mohs Surgeon Perform this surgery - not a dermatologist and then a plastic surgeon as suggested. Please back up my position

A post-skin cancer treatment photo of 27-year-old Tawny Willoughby has gone viral after she shared a selfie on Facebook sending a message warning about the link between tanning beds and skin cancer. The photo accompanied a message that read: "If anyone needs a little motivation to not lay in the tanning bed and sun, here ya go! This is what skin cancer treatment can look like." Tawny...
