I had 4 very large lipomas removed from my lower back last year, they were very large the combined size shown on the pathology report was 535 cubic inches. I now have 2 giant seromas that will not go away. I have had them drained several times, the Dr usually drains about 250ccs from one and 175ccs from the other. I wear compression 24/7. My Dr will not consider putting in a drain, she says she just doesn't do that. Would you put in a drain in this situation?
10 days ago, I had a 5 cm round lipoma removed from the front waist area next to the left ilium. 3 days after the procedure, a swelling developed in the area. The surgeon drained the seroma twice but the swelling is a bit hard and very pronounced. It is less pronounced after I get up in the morning. The pain is very minor. Poking with the needle to remove seroma is painful when the surgeon does it and a day afterwards.
I had lipomas removed from my chest wall 6 weeks ago, which required drains on both sides. The drains were removed after 15 days and I immediately developed seromas on both sides of my chest. An aspiration was required 10 days later, with the left side draining 120 and the right 90 ml. I began to wear a chest binder afterwards and 10 days later aspiration was only required the right side, which netted 30ml. Is this a normal progression and is the binder masking the true size of my right side seroma.
I had a lipoma removal and a week after I developed a seroma and had to receive a drain. It is now a week after receiving the JP drain and for the past 3 days I've been consistently under 3cc's every 12 hours on both sides. The nurse on duty said I was clear to have them removed and I was good to go. The my doctor said to leave them in, no explanation at all or answers. The nurse herself was even confused by the decision when I've been consistently under 30cc's since day two post op and lower.
Lipoma was 8cm. I noticed it was draining. Did not want it to get infected and went in to see the doctor who poked it and of fluid came out. He said it was not infected but can become infected. It was not my regular surgeon so I'm going in again tomorrow to change the bandage because they packed it. I'm concerned because I'm colonized with MRSA and am petrified of infection. Should I be on antibiotics? Did I drain it too late and if formed a pocket? Should I not be walking much?
