I had an appointment with an esthetician for IPL and changed to a cosmetic dermatologist. He uses the starlight Ipl machine. Is this a good machine for ipl?

Its been 2 months and unfortunately the damage is extensive. Im not sure what my next step should be to try to fix the damages. I feel that everything im doing is only making things worse. I have extremely dry skin, my oil glands are not working. Dents, divots, wrinkles, scars, crazy white lines and orange peel skin. I developed acne, which is scarring. And of course, fat loss. Around my eyes...

Hi. I am using an IPL device at home (Philips Lumea Prestige) for over a year now and I also recebtly started to use an over the counter retinol (the one from The Inkey List). Next week I am going to have my maintanance treatment on my face and I was wondering if I should stop using the retinol. I used acids in the past and done right the next day my treatments with IPL just because I forgot...

I had IPL (BBL) about two weeks ago for vascular issues. Provider said it shouldn't impact my beard, so I shaved. Hurt quite a bit and now I have large bald circles all down my jaw. Has this happened to anyone else? Did yours grow back?

I have had 4 ipl treatments and it worked really well but on the third treatment when I was healing it gave a dark spot on my cheeks inch and a half under my eye. It basically looks like a old black that dropped. I told the doctor and did another spot treatment and it got lighter then darker. What caused this? Has this happened to anyone else? Now I’m depressed.

Hey, This is my first post, I'll try and make it as clear as I can! Thanks to my dad's genes, I'm extremely hairy. I have loads of hair on my chest, stomach, shoulders, back, bum, underarms, hands, legs, feet etc. It has been a major cause of concern and I've tried a variety of things to deal with it, such as shaving, waxing, epilating, hair removal cream etc but none have really worked. A few...

So many on this site have had severe complications from Fraxel and IPL and other treatments. Can any of the doctors address what can be done to help all of us, we really need some guidance and support. Thank you.

Is it possible the equipment back then was not as advanced as today, or attributed more to operator-error, i.e., unskilled people using too high settings, not understanding what skin types are best suited for this treatment, etc.? I ran into an acquaintance last week who had a huge black+blue bruise that covered her cheek area. Is that also a possible side effect? I've never seen that before.

What did you experience post-IPL skin treatment?  Was it a long recovery, short, painful, quick?  Please share!

I am looking for a good, honest, BBL/IPL provider in Maryland area. I have been to 2 spas already and have a horrible experiences, both turned out a money making machines, and even though they have means to help with my discolorations, they just care about keep making money on me. Anyone has any good experiences, suggestions?

I'm 28 years old, and have been trying to remove a red spot on my face for a few years. I had two treatments done before, with minimal results. I was getting laser hair removal done with a groupon, and the clinic told me out their IPL treatments. I'm just about 3 weeks out, and I'm now noticing many more fine lines than I started with. No redness, although I had rosesea before. My face swelled...

I've used topical tretinoin for acne for bout 15 years (on and off) and have been told it may have thinned my skin thereby contributing to some IPL complications (broken blood vessels, depressions, chronic superficial bleeds from skin). Is this a problem that has been experienced by others?

I had IPL done 4 days ago for photorejuvenation. Had previously tolerated this for hair removal but was not offered a patch test for the photorejuvenation. The procedure was more painful that I expected and I was shocked to see my face immediately after. There were brown/red bars on my neck and slightly less prominent marks on my face. No blistering occurred post-procedure. Both the technician...

Summer's almost here, and you know what that means: outdoor festivals, backyard barbecues, and days at the beach! Unfortunately, there's nothing like a sunburn to put a damper on the fun, not to mention leave behind some pretty unsightly tan lines. What can you do to keep your skin healthy this summer?  Find out in our latest blog post.

Is there any doctors that can treat or help laser ipl damage? I am in Maryland but willing to travel. 3 weeks after 4 th treatment

Of course it can!  1. Commonsense:  heat and trauma can cause broken blood vessels.  IPL can provide both.  Machine malfunction, wrong settings, etc. and you can obviously end up w/ more broken blood vessels than before IPL.  2.  I AM LIVING PROOF.  After my IPL tx, I have new, darker, more broken blood vessels, some in areas I did NOT HAVE any before....

I got a photofacial last week on one brown spot. The spot raised up and later rubbed against something and peeled off that same night. It's now been a week later and has turned into a greenish color scab. Is this normal? Will it scar or is this a normal part of the healing process? Any help would be appreciated.

I've IPL treatments and one extra laser treatment to fade the scars . A total nightmare !!! First visit no problems when dermatologist did it . Second treatment a Esthetician did it . I was in so much pain , tears going down my face . Esthetician said she would try lowering the setting but if there wasn't much difference I should stay at the higher setting . Who was I to judge . She told me...
