I had Invisalign treatment done to straighten my teeth a few years ago. When finished, I chose to have a wire glued to the back of my lower teeth to keep it in place, and then wear Essix retainers for my upper teeth during the nighttime. Afterwards, I found out that my lower two incisor molars were wearing down to the roots due to my grinding at night. I was advised to have a lower night guard made, but I still need to wear upper retainers to keep my teeth aligned. Would it be ok to wear both?
Good morning all,My invisalign treatment is almost over (2 more trays to wear). However, I had a pretty bad experience with my orthodontist and don't trust her anymore. I read that after the treatment, 2-3 solutions for keeping the teeth straight exist:- Invisalign trays to change every 6 month/1 year,- Wire retainers My orthodontist wants to combine both solutions: Put a wire retainer behind my teeth and make a dental mold with this wire to create a plastic retainer (not invisalign) that I would wear when sleeping. And everytime I would renew my plastic retainer, my orthodontist wants me to redo a dental mold for new plastic retainer (why not using the same mold everytime? she won't answer...). And it is a lot more expensive that the first 2 solutions I mentionned above. Do you think that my orthodontist's solution is reasonable or should I insist to have only the wire (or plastic retainer at night)? If I use the plastic one, is it really necessary to redo mold of my teeth every time I change the tray?
I finished my invisalign treatment & had fixed retainers placed on my lower teeth, two months ago. Just the other day, the glue on the wire came off one tooth! the following day, I had an appointment at my orthodontics office and a hygienist replaced the glue...now after a couple of days, I am noticing spaces between these teeth that weren't there before! I am so upset about this...is it because the wire was tweaked when it was re-glued? Will I have to do treatment again to fix these spaces?
I was given a plan for treatment that would be accelerated (6 months vs 1 year by replacing my trays on a weekly basis. After the treatment my dentist proposed I wear permanent lingual wires and removable retainers at night. Does wearing both make a difference? I'm hesitant with wearing the removable retainers at night and wanted to know why they recommended both...
