If you are considering a breast lift to improve your body after pregnancy or you are not satisfied with your previous breast augmentation procedure, you may want to review the following information about Strattice™ Tissue Matrix.
What is Strattice™ Tissue Matrix?
Strattice™ Tissue Matrix is a surgical mesh that is used by a plastic surgeon to reinforce weakened tissue in mastopexy augmentation and revisionary procedures.  It helps the surgeon to support and position breasts in the desired location during the procedure. It also acts as a scaffold to support the growth of your own tissue.
How is Strattice™ Tissue Matrix used in breast procedures?
In combination with good surgical technique, the use of Strattice™ Tissue Matrix may help the surgeon address the following challenges due to weak or thin breast tissue:
  • Capsular Contracture:  This is the hardening of the breast area around the implant. It can occur in the tissue surrounding one or both implants. This hardening causes the tissue to tighten, which can cause discomfort.  Strattice™ Tissue Matrix can be used to provide tissue reinforcement during the procedure to repair capsular contracture.

  • Fold Malposition: Weak tissue causes the lower or side breast border to move downward or to the side. Strattice™ Tissue Matrix allows the surgeon to redefine the fold location by supporting the fold repair.

  • Bottoming Out: Stretchy breast tissue causes the implant to drop lower than desired.  Strattice™ Tissue Matrix helps the surgeon to support and position the breasts in the desired location.

  • Wrinkling and Rippling:  When a patient’s breast tissue is not sufficient to cover the implant it can create visible wrinkles or ripples on the breast. Strattice™ Tissue Matrix allows the surgeon to reinforce thin tissue and support the breast pocket.

  • Symmastia: Weak tissue causes the breasts to migrate too close together.  Strattice™ Tissue Matrix provides support to the medial repair giving the surgeon control over the breast pocket size and position.

  • Mastopexy Augmentation: Strattice™ Tissue Matrix helps the surgeon to support the stretchy skin and lax tissue.

What is Strattice™ Tissue Matrix made from?
Strattice™ Tissue Matrix is a soft product from LifeCell that is designed to reinforce weak or inadequate tissue and to support growth of your own tissue. Derived from porcine dermis, it's a flexible and sterile product. How much does Strattice™ Tissue Matrix cost?  How much will it increase the cost of my revision procedure?
It is not possible to say how much a patient will be charged for Strattice™ Tissue Matrix, because it varies based upon the type of revision procedure being performed.  Strattice™ Tissue Matrix may increase the cost of the breast revision procedures.
