Weigh more after surgery

Dr said he took off 14 lbs during surgery but I am 3 days out and still weigh more than before surgery. Has anyone had this experience? When did you start to lose?
According to many doctors, you'll actually gain weight after surgery because of fluid retention. Try not to pay attention to the numbers at the moment and concentrate on recovering.
