What does 5 weeks post-op look like?

By One Little Bug on 03 Oct 2011

Long story short, I have wanted to have a BR (or maybe just lift?) for YEARS.  I finally have everything lined up and ready to go for early November.... what will this look like at about 5 weeks post-op?  My significant other will be coming back from Afghanistan and I am wondering how shocking the Frankenboobie effect will be at that point? I know he will love the eventual result and has been completely supportive of me but I have read the numerous posts about warning the significant other.  What will he be coming home to?  I don't want to freak him out unnecessarily but I want to give him a fair warning.  How healed will I be?  What will the scars look like that soon after?  Swelling/bruising?    Thanks for sharing your experience Ladies!

I'm 5 weeks post reduction and my incisions are opening as well. First it was my right verticle now my left horizontal and I've had to be aspirated twice on both sides for a seroma. I'm getting really discouraged and feels like Im never going to be mysel again. Any advice or tips?

I'm four days post op. everything is good. Pain is minimal. My concern is my nipples look dry. PS didn't advise me to use cream. I see PS on Wednesday. Nipples have started to tingle a bit.

I am five weeks post op right now- I've had the same issue with my incisions opening up, mostly the incision under my left breast- I popped quite a few stitches and the incision kept opening. I went to see my doc- the nurse gave me an antibiotic and silver sulfadiazine- since then the incision has opened up more, although I'm told that's normal and will heal. It looks rather gross right now and feels awful, basically just raw meat and anytime something touches it it hurts. I have to put the cream on and put pads in my bra because they ooze and bleed a lot. Going to see my doc tomorrow to check on them but from what I've read this has happened to a lot of patients post op and I'm hoping will heal with minimal scarring.

Happened to me as well. I am a "small" 34D now and the doctor said that when the breasts are kept a bit larger (more than a C cup), there is a chance of this happening. I also used pads but no cream. It took quite a while to totally close but I am now a couple of weeks shy of my one year mark and both breasts look about same so not to worry

Hi everyone, I just had a BR. I am litterally hours out of surgery. I am not sure if it is the medication, but i feel wonderful--at the moment, lol--and I must say I am suprised because I thought i was going to be in imense pain for a week.

Is this normal or will I go through spurst of feeling good and then having pain?

I never really felt horrible, Meche. I know some of the girls had some significant pain, but mostly I was just stiff and tired. Sleeping was the biggest challenge, but after the first week that even was better. Good luck and I hope you continue to feel so amazing!!

had my surgery last September and left breast vertical incision opened and took a couple of months to heal. used bandage pads that had to be changed couple of times daily . but incision did heal and breast looks great.

you've made a truly life-changing experience but be patient . it is going to take several months before you see the real look of your new body

Oh my gosh! So sorry to hear that! That pad should work really well. Does it have a silver color to it? If so then it should help it heal rather quickly from the inside out. Good luck!

Hi,
I had my BR on 5/29/12 and I have incision openings on both breasts from the nipple down to bottom. I have been on antibotics (Cipro) and Silvadine creme for 1 week. I went today and my PS said that it will heal but it will be several weeks yet. I have been wearing dressings since my surgery, and it leaks every day, but my PS has a good handle on things. It's frustrating I know.

I had a bit of wound opening under each breast. It was maceration, where the skin does not dry out properly. It was white, kind of fatty looking round the edges and did bleed a little. My nuse said the bleeding was a good sign as it showed good supply.

If you imagine a cut on your finger, you start with a plaster on it, but at some point you decide to let the air get to it. Otherwise the wound does not completely heal properly.

The difficulty I had was that you cant expose the wounds to the air, without being arrested! I was treated with iodine infused gauze and had to keep it all dry. This went on for about 3 weeks and I also had antibiotics to get rid of some bacteria that wasnt helping.

I am now 14 weeks and the scars are fading nicely. Though you can see almost a circular patch of redder skin where the wound opened. It is under my new boob and not visible really s I am not worried.

Having said all that, the nurses ALL said to me that if at any time my wound area got hot, I was to go back to them straight away.

In addition they said to restrict exercise to walking / gentle exercise only until the wounds healed more. Dont do too much too soon, the gym will be there next month!

saw the photos - looks great. I am a "little" older -64 - and am starting to have incisions opening up. the vertical cut on my left breast is nearly 1/2" and right breast is starting to open where vertical incison meets top of breast. surgeon saw them and said no infection. are oozing and bleeding some. would love to hear from others who had this exerience

Click on the icon by my username and it will take you to a page the lists my reviews and posts. My review is called, "The breasts of a 17 year old...I swear that is what he said!" Click on that and it will take you right there.

You can check out my review. I have many pictures at various stages to give you an idea. And if you are worried about it, just put on a sexy bra and turn the lights down before you completely undress. That way he will be so distracted by your sexy confidence that he won't even notice the scars!

Anyone experience vertical incision opening up? The vertical incision on myleft breast opened up over a week ago. It's not infected but I see both white tissue as well as pink tissue opening. Seems like internal stitching has held but wondering about large scar?

One Little Bug...I am officially 5wks today! If you'd like to see, I plan to post my pictures on my review later, once I get my before pics. My surgeon is resizing them and emailing them to me, I think you'll be pleased to see no "frankenboobie." LOL Its funny that you say that, because me and my fiance were calling mine Nightmare before Christmas boobies. ;)

You could try looking at my review. It's called 'UK Breast Reduction' and there are pictures of 6 weeks post op. I have got iodine on the scars so they look worse than they were.
Also Kimmie has a review, as do lots of others.
It wont be too bad at 5 weeks. He will have missed the frankenstein stage!
