Can upturned noses be corrected?

By melzay on 03 Feb 2010

I was born with an extreme upturned nose and had rhinoplasty to correct it. The doctor put in an implant to extend the nose but it became infected and had to come out a few months later.

Now I am left with mishapen nostrils and still with an upturned nose. Since the first surgery went wrong, I'm not sure if I want to undergo rhinoplasty for a third time. Is there any surgical strategy that can correct my nose that will work?

Hi melzay,

Sorry to hear surgery hasn't worked out for you so far. I also found this page about correcting an upturned nose: Difficulty of performing a Rhinoplasty for my upturned nose?

Apparently it's quite tough to correct properly, so make sure you're seeing a rhinoplasty specialist who is familiar with this type of correction. Good luck!
