Tummy Tuck: Q&A

One Side of Waist Looks Tighter After Tummy Tuck

I had a tummy tuck, muscle repair and lipo three weeks ago. One side of my waist looks much tighter than the other side. Is this normal or is it possible that the doctor pulled one side tighter than the other when repairing the muscle?

Yes, it is possible but with out photos from different views hard to tell you what is going on. It could also be your anatomy. Please advise if you have photos or get a second opinion. From MIAMI Dr. B

Asymmetric Muscle Tightening Tummy Tuck Repair

Muscle repair in Tummy Tuck can be done in several ways; Either with two separate and parallel repairs or in the vast number of cases as a single midline repair(or Plication). It would be exceedingly hard for a surgeon to stray and not bring together similar amounts of loose six pack muscle lining leading to asymmetry you describe. I would ask your surgeon what he thought was the reason for the asymmetry.
