Good luck today, Penel3!

It's totally normal to be scared. It's a major change... I'd worry if you didn't have butterflies! :) Just try to relax and enjoy the "me" time. I'm sure you'll do great.

So, Pene, you had your big day yesterday. I hope everything went smoothly, and you're back in here soon, telling us how happy you are feeling.

Phew....I think I am finally up to posting! I had my big day last Tuesday...hysterectomy (abdominal), TT and mastopexy. The hyst removed a uterus the size of a soccer ball! The overall total surgical time was 6 hours....pretty long. I lost half my blood volume so was pretty ill the first 24 hours. My ob/gyn kept me in hospital until Friday night. I had a great day Saturday, but was wiped all day yesterday. I have only one drain that will come out tomorrow. I have no pain from the mastopexy, some deep hysterectomy pain and burning from the muscle repair(3 fingers wide). He originally didn't think I would need muscle repair....surprise, surprise! I don't seem to have much swelling...but if I actually do have some then my stomach is still smaller with the swelling than it was pre-surgical! I am honestly thrilled with how I look and feel already. I did take before pics and when I am ready I will post before and aft! As of this moment (6 days post-op) I am thrilled with my decision!!

Wow, I'm exhausted just reading that. Is your uterus supposed to be that size or am I dense? O.o

Glad to hear you're doing well though.

I'm glad your surgery went well and that it is over with. Good luck with your recovery, I look forward to your pictures. (My TT is Mar. 7th.) You are a trooper for having all that done at once. Take care.
Penel3 21 Feb 2011
LOL, you are not dense! No, the average "normal, healthy" uterus is about 3in. by 2in. by 1 in. When a fibroid is present (like in my case) the uterus grows in size to accommodate it, just like a baby during pregnancy. This removal is what prompted me to add on the TT and "what the heck" throw in the breast lift too!

Oh my! Thanks for clearing that up.

I ROFLed at "what the heck throw in a breast lift too" -- why not! :) You should have asked for a mani-pedi too while you were under.

Penel3 22 Feb 2011
Lol, a mani-pedi....that would have been perfect, lol!
