By Sunshine627 on 10 Nov 2010

Hello! This is my first post on RealSelf! I have spent the past week looking around the site & have enjoyed reading about everyone's experiences. I'm a 40-year old mother & wife. I am so excited & so scared... all at the same time! Hoping for some encouragement!

Very exciting! And nervousness is totally normal. I'm glad you're finding the site helpful and that you posted on our forums! You might want to also consider posting your story in our tummy tuck review community. I'm encouraging folks to start an online diary of sorts to help with all your emotions and questions.

Please let us know how you're doing. When are you scheduled for surgery?

Sunshine627 11 Nov 2010
I definitely plan to post my story... surgery is scheduled for December 28th. Will post some before pictures and begin my review soon! Thanks for responding!

How exciting!Congratulations on your upcoming mommy makeover! I am in disbelief that mine is also happening in about 10 days! My mommy makeover is scheduled for Dec 23, 2010. I think we should KIT and see how we do once we have out procedures.
I am soooo excited and very nervous about the TT. I will have my BA done through the belly button, but I am freaking out about the TT procedure and the scar. How bad will the scar be?
If you work, are you taking time off work? Did your dr tell you how long you should take to recuperate?

I just had a TT and breast lift done on Nov. 17. I was really scared. But I must say that I have hade great experience so far. It was not as painful as I anticipated. I asked my doctor to let me stay over night and he said as I could stay up to 23 hours after I left recovery and still be considered same day surgery. So I did and I came home yesterday. My husband is taking great care of me! I keep up on my pain meds. I only hope it continues to be as good as it has been. I think you have to believe it can be and it will!
Kimmers25 (Community Manager) 20 Nov 2010

Glad to hear you are doing so well!  I also tried to stay for the 23 hours but the center I was at only had two hold beds and somebody beat me to it.  So I went home and my hubby took great care of me.

Are you comfortable posting your before and after pics?

After watching some of the videos on Youtube I was so close to just giving in. Reading everyone's posts really help... stay strong!
carol2010 25 Nov 2010
I watched one video and about got sick. I have 3 weeks from today and can not stop thinking about it. I started this blog because I have not told any of my friends and needing some support.
gemski 25 Nov 2010
hello People!!! i have op booked for 2 weeks today!!! Have thought about it for years and finally booked it.. spent the last couple of months researching and came across this site.. which did wonders for clarifying that i'd made the right decision!!:) Am just stressing out about the fact that I am 9lbs over ideal weight. Have lost 7 stone(yes I'm british!) over last few years au naturel... and booked op knowing i had to lose tiny bit more.. which isn't budging... i jst need someone to say that its fine so i can stop worrying about that part!

cheers.

Hi Gemski!  Congrats on making the decision to do this for yourself.  You will be so happy in the end that you did something so wonderful to complete your journey.

Don't worry about the weight because 9 pounds is not bad.  Most docs want to you be 15-20 pounds within your goal so you are good.  I was at the same point prior to my surgery and needing to drop the last 10 pounds.  Mine would not budge for months but since my surgery I did drop the last 10 and finally at goal weight.

The surgery was a big boost for me and really helped to finish me off.  Now we are at the maintaining point which is a whole other issue.

Make sure after surgery that you keep up on the exercise and diet faithfully.  Having spent the money I did for the surgery is enough motivation for me.  I do not want to ruin my flat new tummy by gaining weight.  I have a five pound flex zone that I stay in and that keeps me on track.

Are you going to post before and after pics?  I look forward to reading about your journey as you go through.  We have a really nice tight support system on RealSelf and it will help you in so many ways to get through this process.
Sunshine627 26 Nov 2010
Genski... congrats on booking your TT and OMG, 2 weeks is just around the corner!! You are in the right place, though! I feel like the women on this site have kept me sane and helped me to get through the initial shock of actually booking the surgery. No worries about the weight,,, after you drop all that cash and go through the pain, you will be so motivated to get it off. I am still about 15 lbs overweight but I am confident that this is the right thing. And just remember its not about the number on the scale, its about how you feel and fit into your clothes.

Congrats and PLEASE post some pictures!!

hi sorry i havent replied sooner.. i have been busy finishing off my last days at work (i was a little disappointed that i hadn't registered properly and i felt abit out of the loop, so am sooo happy to have just read my msg on msg board and read replies) thankyou soo much.
I have 3 days to go!!!! last week i felt very calm and was feeling like 'hey yeah what the big deal?' because i've thought about it for so long its almost 'old news'.. butbthen last night i woke up about 5am and was lying in bed thinking omg!! im single so dont have a hubby or boyfriend to help but have some friends and family that are going to help!
Thankyou so much for your replies.. i think i will be posting more regularly now.. finished work yesterday and will defo be posting as im laid up.

I'm thinking about puffing up one of the lounge chairs wit duvets and pillows to sit and sleep in for couple days.. will that be ok?

look forward to replies... theres someone on here who's going int he day before me... good luck and good luck to every body who's having it done...it will be worth it!! (p.s i can finally stop stressing about the last bit of weight!!)
Sunshine627 6 Dec 2010
Gemski, Christina is going in the same day as you and Baby Blues is the day before. I actually have a little calendar where I started writing down everyone's surgery date. Its really exciting.

I think you will be fine with one of those lounge chairs. As long as you are comfortable...thats all that matters, I think. I am very high maintenance when it comes to my sleep so I opted for a hospital bed... based on Kimmers suggestion. I am also so worried about having to sleep in a bra and binder because I usually sleep naked! Even if I fall asleep with clothes on, sometime in the middle of the night they come off. Im not even aware that in doing it. Im hoping that I am so drugged up that it wont matter :-)

Stay strong and hang in there... only 3 days left for you... best of luck and please keep us updates!
Christina Grand Rapids 25 Nov 2010
We are all here for you Carol - like Sunshine said, just hang in there! I thought about backing out myself. I kept thinking how vain am I to think I should drop $15,000 on some unncessary surgery but in the end it was my husband who kept telling me that after all the work I had put in to losing weight and making exercise a huge part of my life, I deserved to feel better about my body!
Christina Grand Rapids 25 Nov 2010
Gemski - 9 pounds is nothing so don't worry about it. After surgery, when you are given the ok to start exercising, you can work on those if you feel you really need to. Oh and I seriously love that you call pounds stones :) One of my goals in life is to run the London Marathon! If you need to talk we are here and trust me, we post ALL the time LOL
