Is there a treatment for paper thin skin on arms?

By Kathryn in Florida on 16 May 2011

My doctor told me that the reason the skin on my arms are so thin is because I used to sunbath every single day. Now the skin on my arms are paper thin. I use sunblocks now. Wish I had listened to my mother when I was young. There has to be something I can put on my arms to help thicken the skin, but I have no clue what it is. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Eating a diet high in lean protein and getting adequate calories can also be helpful in maintaining your skin’s strength and in helping it repair quickly. Lastly, avoid using topical steroids for longer than necessary —topical steroids hasten thinning of the skin and can make the problem worse. Fortunately, thinning of the skin from steroids is reversible and will improve after the steroids are stopped.

Oh those pesky vitamins ;) I feel you I don't get enough iron, every time I try to give blood I'm just barely, barely able if not at all so I too had to bump up my vitamin intake. I'm glad the vitamin D is working on your hair. I also take fish oil which seems to help and have heard vitamin E is good too.

Have a great weekend!

HI Kathryn,

I'm not sure if there is anything exactly, but maybe some of those lotions with Vitamin E in them. Also I take Flax Seed oil and vitamin D which is supposed to be good for your skin. Just some ideas.

Thanks,

-Britt

Not sure if Vit D and Flax Seed with work or not, but will surely try it. Actually, my doctor tested the strength of Vit D in my body and it was to the point of almost non-existant. I began taking Vit D and my hair is coming in thicker. My hair had gotten so thin that you could see my scalp. Been taking Vit D for six months now and my scalp is hardly noticeable. Thank you Lord!!!
