Are there any other options than sleeping on your back following surgery?

By Jenijen1964 on 25 Jul 2012

Good morning everyone. I live in Windsor Ontario. Here's my biggest concern. I was born with spina bifida meningocele. I had surgery as an infant and I have arthritis in my back. I can't sleep on my back. I can't even lie on my back for very long. I need to sleep on my side to be comfortable. From all of the posts I have read it appears that you must sleep on your back following surgery........any ideas? I really think that a BR will help my back pain.

I was able to sleep on my side as soon as the drain tubes were removed which was 2days PO for me.

Are you able to sleep in a recliner? I slept in my parent's recliner for the first few nights. I am just past 2 weeks post op and am still not comfortably sleeping on my sides. I hope you find some good answers. Good Luck!
