By bfurtch on 02 May 2012

My BMI is 32.9, what are the medical conditions that would allow you to have lap band or sleeve surgery if BMI less than 35.

Hi there,

You would need to specifically speak to a doctor to find out what medical conditions they would accept, and they may differ from doctor to doctor. However, some common co-morbidities are: high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes (specifically type 2), heart disease, gallstones, hypertension, arthritis, stroke, sleep apnea, constant heartburn and mental health issues, such as depression.

Hope this helps!

Kirsty
