The Best/most Experienced Doctor in the US for Cheek Augmentation Using Perlane or Juvederm?

and it would be nice to be able to ask a question that solicits answers from doctors and the community at the same time. to not have to send basically the same question twice.

I have to laugh. I love the word "sheesh". I don't think you were really rude, but I can see how it might have come across that way. I agree, it would be great if we could ask Drs to recommend other doctors, especially if a client is looking for someone local, or ask a second question after the doctor responds. It would be nice to pose a question to doctors "I'm looking for a doctor to help me with this problem, can you help?"

Hi Cubby,

I don't personally have any doctor recommendations, but have you tried the "Doctor Finder"? It's a good place to start -- only board-certified doctors are listed, and you can read reviews from their patients all in one place.

Sharon, I can see why you recommend the Doctor Finder, as community manager. But, that is pretty useless. It gives no indication of true areas of specialization. Moreover, all plastic surgeons claim to be specialists. Even those who post enhanced before/after photos.

As Sharon mentioned "It's a good place to start...". People still need to do their own research, but we have tried to give a leg up with that by only allowing doctors who meet specific criteria to participate on RealSelf. If you scroll to the bottom of this page you will see the boards we have partnered with. Hopefully that helps in your search.

I do agree with what Multimedia said. Don't get me wrong. this website is an incredible resource. but the Doctor Finder, well, just about every PS is certified to do every procedure. So it really is of little use. you will get the same list basically no matter what procedure you plug in.

Thanks for your feedback. I understand what you're both saying.

The biggest differences you'll see are in the doctor specialties -- for example, a vein doctor does sclerotherapy, but not cheek augmentation. But I get that the question is: "How do I know who is the cheek augmentation specialist?"

You can always ask in the community (either in the forums or Doctor Q&A). I'll also make sure our doctor community team is aware of your suggestions, so we can look into ways to better surface the top doctors for each procedure.

Thanks again for your comments!

"You can always ask in the community (either in the forums or Doctor Q&A)." Uh, that is exactly what the poster did. I'm sure she was hoping to hear replies from physicians, as was I. Occasionally, some will give props to other surgeons that they feel excel in certain areas.

It's rare for doctors to read and post in forums. Forums are generally for consumers to post and reply. Cubby, if you're still looking for this information I would suggest posting a Q&A to doctors as Sharon mentioned earlier. Multimedia, it'd be great if you'd be polite to community managers who are only trying to help.
