What are the chances I will have a hollow look after lower blepharoplasty?

I am 51 and I have under eye bags I want to get rid of but I don't want to trade one bad look for another or have to get fillers in my tear trough area after the fat is removed. Right now I have medium size puffiness and no tear trough problems like others I see online. I just want the puffiness gone and not have to worry about getting other procedures. When I asked the surgeon at my consult today he seemed in a bit of a hurry and brushed off my concern. Anyone get puffiness removed without needing fillers afterward?

I saw two surgeons within the same practice. The first one was going to place incisions outside the lower lid (which I did not want unless absolutely necessary due to loose skin, which he said I did not have) and the second surgeon said I was a candidate for the less invasive inside stitches. When I did my consultation with the second surgeon, he immediately showed me on my face where hallowness could result and said he would do a fat transfer to smooth/even it all out which he did. I didn't even think to ask about it but he took care of it. I suppose it's according to to the amount of fat removed and bone structure, skin firmness, etc.

ya, my guy didn't mention fat transfer, either i didn't need it or he doesn't like doing it but i'm kind of glad because i think it's more invasive and longer recovery time.

If the surgeon brushed off your concern, than he/she is not the right one for you! I'm a Plastic Surgery Nurse located in Arcadia, CA and we do lower eye bag removal quite frequently. If you post a photo of your eyes, maybe I can give you some tips!

I ended up getting the surgery because I hated my bags more than I would hate the hollow look. so far so good, post 25 days or so. don't know if it will eventually hollow. wasn't impressed with my doctor's communication skills but his surgical skills were really good. see my pics here..http://www.realself.com/review/boston-ma-eyelid-surgery-inherited-puffy-and-saggy-eyes-bad-when-younger-51 thanks for your concern!!! i love this website!
