8% tca peel under eye ruined skin

I had an 8% tca peel done under my eye by my dermatologist for hyper-pigmentation. She did 4 passes , I do not remember her neutralizing it but I figure she must know what she is doing. Since then my skin looks thinner and I can see little fine lines in the area of the peel. They are in kind of weird shapes. I did not have any of this before. It looks as though there is a layer of thin , fine lined skin in the area now. It has been 2 1/2 months. I have been leaving it alone and just being gentle with it but I dont know if this counts as scarring. I would not think a peel would cause fine lines. Has this happened to anyone and did it get better with time. I also got my hyper-pigmentation now and I cant tolerate hydroquinone  so I am not sure what to do. Does anyone have any advice?

Hi there, I just stumbled across your question after spending my Sunday afternoon in tears after experiencing the exact problem as you. I had something called an Enerpeel eye and lip treatment (just around my eyes) to help reduce dark circles that I have always had. However, they have instead caused my under eye area to become extremely crinkly, with prominent fine lines that seem to be getting deeper day by day. I am only 28, am a beauty model, and am so scared about having permanently damaged my skin. I had the peel done about three months ago and like yourself, have just left my skin alone and used a really eye moisturizer (origins eye doctor). How did you eye area end up one you fully recovered from the peel? I would really appreciate a response as I am so distressed and depressed about all this. Thanks in advance

It has not come back totally. I still have hypo-pigmentation under the eye that looks like circles or half circles. I use differin which is a mild retiniod and just my active moist dermalogica lotion. I will never have any peels done on my face again or laser which caused its own damage. I think less is more and dont let anyone ever touch your face because everything has side effects. You are still young so your collagen may fill in a bit over time. I went to 3 dermatologists and they said to baby the area , use a mild retinoid and lotion. There really is not much you can do and some might say try lasers or more peels etc but your just asking for possible more trouble. Stressing will not help but I know how difficult it is to not stress I am a very obsessive person and concentrate on things so I get it but time heals . You have age on your side. Also the best advice is stay out of the sun and use sunscreen every day rain or shine. I was allergic and broke out from most but I use colorscience sunforgettable powder sunscreen and it does not break me out. Its in a powder stick and I use a matte I think its perfectly clear medium color you need to use what good for your skin. If you can tolerate regular sunscreen then you dont need to use this but the sun is whats going to wrinkle you the most and you will be sorry later always protect your skin from it.

I wouldn't advise the retin.a this still count s as an acid. And some people have had problems from it too. But ask your derm as they are the professionals. Sunscreen is a mustang

I use differin not retin a since retin a can be harsh on the skin. Some people do well others not. Differin is gentler but everyone needs to ask their own dermatologist and everyones tolerance is different.

How has your experience been with the differin? I would be interested in knowing as my skin never adjusted to retin a.. best wishes

I really think olive oil and pure emu oil can help over processed skin.

My skin does great with differin . I cant use retin a it causes redness and irritation. I have used it for years its very good for people who cant tolerate retin a. I cant use any oils my skin would break out from it. Especially the olive oil It would block my pores and cause more breakouts. I use dermalogicas special cleansing gel and their active moist lotion and that does not break me out. I have pretty oily skin though its not as oily in the winter. I also use powdered sunscreen every daay and thats it.

Glad to hear that you are having a good experience. I think my skin was getting thin on the retain a and it's slowing plumping up. Guess I just can't tolerate it. My mom loves it .. I'm tan and breakoutprone. Retin a gave me an orange peel texture and waxy coating to my skin. And I looked like I had a white face with a tan body lol. But I know it's great for those who can tolerate it. I tried it for 2 years and gave up..

Try differin its totally different then retin a. It helps with acne, texture without the retin a side effects.
