Can we talk grams instead of cup size?

By Minnesota9 on 14 Sep 2012

My PS will not discuss cup size.  He only talks grams.  Since none of my bras fit, I can only guess that I'm a 32DDD or G (G is what the bra fitter at Nordstrom's said).  The PS said each one is 800 grams and he is required by the insurance company to remove 400.  Any clue what cup size that will make me?  Is 400 enough or should I ask for more?  I want to be as small as possible.  I've read the disappointment that women have experienced after going through this surgery only to end up being only one cup size smaller.  I do plan on having a conversation with my PS at the next appointment, but I would love to see what the women here have to say.

Hi all, I was a 34 GG/H (UK size). I had my BR on 29th August so 9 weeks ago. I went down to a 34 small C. I had 1.6 kilograms removed from EACH breast. So 7lbs in total off my chest. At first i thought i was too small but once i got used to seeing myself (my fist loo visit 6 hrs post op!) I looked in the bathroom mirror and i was so happy! They have become less boxy and look more of a C as I thought i was a B at first. I took a bra at a size I wanted to be and photos from this site so my PS understood what I would like. My PS took account of my rib and chest size, height and weight. I am 5ft 7 and a UK size 12 hips.I was wearing a size 20 top when i had big boobs bit i now wear a 12 or 14 (depending on the make) and it looks great! Good luck.

My PS wouldn't discuss cup size either at first. I am around a 40F/G (I spill out of these so who knows) and we decided to take out 1000 grams per size (insurance said 800 is required). He did say that this amount taken will bring me down to around a C or D cup depending on the bra. This is exactly the size I want to be so that was good to here. My surgery is 12/3/12 so we will see how accurate he is!

Oh Dawn, your post couldn't have come at a better time for me! I am a 40G with spillover as well, and my surgery is the day after tomorrow! I am also very much hoping to be a C or D (max) - I can't fathom taking 1000g but I won't miss it and I'm glad to hear your PS is OK with that much. Can I ask your overall size? I am 5'9" and wear a size 18 right now. Are you also on the larger/taller side?

I am defiantly on the larger side, but not the taller side, LOL. I am 5'2 (on a good day) and wear about an 18/20. The PS seems to think that amount will bring me to right where I want to be. He knows I don't want to go too small, that was one of my fears.

I had my second appointment with the PS and will be having my surgery in just over two weeks. He really seems to get a little annoyed about the size questions. Maybe that is something he gets bugged about a lot and he can't really tell how small he can go until he does the surgery. I'm hoping for the best which would be a B cup, but I am thinking I need to be prepared for a D. Since I am a G or even possibly an H by now, I guess anything is an improvement.

Nets: Thank you. That seems like a good comparison. I have also read that 200 grams is a cup size. So 400 does seem like rather a small reduction when starting with 800 grams of breast tissue.

I was a small 34F and my PS removed about 700 grams from each side. I am now a small 34c. In my opinion 400 grams will not make u small as you wish to be. Discuss it with your PS.
Good luck!

Thanks Mazbug and bellasma. My second consult with him is next month. It's just so hard to tell what size we are talking about when he uses grams. I want to be as small as he can possible go without any added risks. I would love a B cup, but I don't know if that is even possible. If 800 grams makes me a DDD and he removes 400, I'm guessing that would still leave me in the C/D range. I have a smaller frame and would really like to have small breasts to match. I get the impression this guy likes bigger breasts. I hope the next conversation gets more into what size we are going for so I feel confident that he will at least try to go on the small side. I'm 50 now and I've noticed that I've gotten larger in the last couple of years even without weight gain. Menopause would be my guess on that one.

Go as small as you can stand because they get bigger as you get older and put on weight.

My PS will also not talk cup size, and while I trust him I am REALLY REALLY hoping to get to a D max when he's done. (am currently a G). Any less than that will not leave me happy.mand he knows it.
