Swelling upper abdomen

I had my tt and br on February 3. I went back to work part time at my desk only the following Friday. I am not having any pain per say just that upper belly is very swollen. I keep reading that it's normal can any of you who have experienced this tell me how long this swelling at the top usually lasts? Thanks

I am 7 years post op, and I still get the upper abdominal swelling if I eat or drink anything. My stomach is completely flat in the morning when i wake up, but by the time I get home from work, I have the huge upper gut. It looks horrible, and I was hoping that it could be fixed by doing some extra upper ab work. maybe not though. On the upside, when I do crunches, I can feel that a six pack has formed. Can't see it from the outside, but it is there.

I had my tt Feb 2010, i still have upper buldge and swelling. I still wear a binder or girdle, without it the swelling is out of control, i am bigger than before the surgery and i feel 8 months pregnant by the end of the day. It feels as hard as a pregnant tummy also. When i talked to my dr about the buldge above my belly button as well as the incision line he said it was from muscle repair. The right side is larger than the left....hopeless

What does that mean, "It was from the muscle repair"? Have you gotten a second opinion? You certainly shouldn't be bigger than before, otherwise what would the point be? I know some of us do not end up as flat as we were led to believe, me being one of them but I am certainly smaller than before. I would seek another opinion if I were you. Sorry you didn't get the results you deserved. Best wishes. :)

Ya, 10 days is DEFINITELY way too early to tell the final results. Mine has gone down significantly (thank goodness!) I will have to update soon with new pics. Remember, you have to find out the underlying cause for this "bulge" or "swelling". There's tons of office procedures that claim a flatter tummy i.e. lasers but actually dont do anything for you. However, at the end, we all trust our PS to do the right thing to help us achieve our goals. If you go into my profile I think I posted a 10 day post op pic where I was swollen on top (above the BB). There are a few more pics complaining about the same thing.

How are you? I just read your entire review and hope you will update. I am also having issues with a non flat stomach and am 13 weeks post op. PS says it's a GI issue b/c she tightened me really well. Hard to say?? I saw a gastro and am doing a 6 week treatment of Diflucan to treat a possible overgrowth of yeast in the gut that would cause swelling. I am hoping you finally got the flat stomach you deserve. :)

This is what really has me worried. I need to speak with my ps before going through with the tt.

Girl, I am depressed too!! Look at my pictures! Well, actually I will update soon but my tummy has been the same since the day I removed my binder from my first procedure Apr 2011) I wonder how your upper bulge looks like?

I am five weeks post-op and have a large, protuding upper belly. Doc says it is because my abdominal muscles are very week, and need to be strengthened to etter hold my organs back. He says it is not swelling when it is up that high and how my upper abdomen looks at 5 weeks post-op is how it will stay. I am so disappointed. I will try to strenthen my abs and see what happens. I feel like I look the same as I did before. im pretty depressed.

Houston Cosmetic Surgery Center. Dr. did a great job, just me being a cry baby! Think we are going to have to live with some of these issues. Is anyone out there over 2 years post-op? Tummy still hard and numb? One of my friends is 3 years post-op and hers is hard and flat but no swelling. She had a mini tt which isn't so invasive. For sure, we are all different but all agree that having a loose, hanging stomach is much less desirable. Good luck everyone and be patient.

1 Year2months and my tummy still swells and hurts around my bellybutton! Swelling at the middle of the day. Go figure. Maybe we should be doing crunches to strengthen the muscles? Just hurts when I press on my belly but fells better when I suck in and tighten the muscles. Guess this healing takes a lot longer than we were told girls!

Did your upper abdomen swelling clear up LI-LEE, I'm new here just coming up one day shy of three weeks and have a swollen upper abdomen, just looking for easier reassurance I guess.

Please do!! Aim still having problems up there. When I wear my garment overnight it flattens out. Eventually I hope it will go away.

I am 10weeks post op and have a lot of "swelling" in my upper abdomen. Was told by surgeon it was fluid two weeks ago and then yesterday she said possibly inflammation. She said I should be as flat as I was on the operating table so she gae me steriods to take. I had a very large lower abdomen with lots of lose skin but a decent upper. Now I am huge on top of my waist. Anyone have this problem and end up with it going away?

I think we all have different outcomes and start with a different set of circumstances. I had bypass 10 yrs ago and lost 180 lbs and had a lot to remove. I am not happy with my results as I still have a lot of "me" left, but it's a million times better than it was. I now wear pants-something I have never, ever been able to do. I am about 4 months post op and still hurt like hell. I swell all day and by the end of the day I take pain meds. It's that bad. My surgeon says I already went through a lot with my other surgery, I am not your average 40 yr old who had 3 kids and wants a tummy tuck....but I did it, had 1/2 paid by insurance and while I have pain, I am more comfortable in life as my panni isn't sitting on my knees.
