How do I know if it is swelling or bone after nose job?

By klab04 on 29 Jan 2010

I recently had a nose job and one of the things the doctor did was make the sides of my nose smaller by breaking the bone on both sides of the bridge and pusing them towards each other. It's been 3 and a half weeks so far and the swelling looks to be much less but the sides of my nose look the same and when I push on them it is not like the tip of my nose which I can feel is still swollen. It feels like the bone is right there and there is hardly any pain.

Is it possible that the bone is swollen? I really hope that the sides of my nose turn out smaller because that was one of the things I wanted most. And what is this I hear about shots? Can that help? What are they called?

My 16 year old daughter had rhinoplasty 3 weeks ago to correct a nasal fracture and deviated septum. Her nose appears wider now and the sides feels hard unlike you would expect swollen tissue to feel. How do we know if bone remodeling has occured to the point that her nose is now wider than when it started?
