No more surgeries, I'm very happy with my results. Swelling started subsiding at 4 months, but at about a year is when it really looked good. The first 3 months were very hard. I thought the Dr. Had done a horrible job. I was just inpatient and wanted quick results.

I really appreciated all of your posts. I am about 6 weeks post op and have a bigger bump than I started with. I am obviously freaking out. I guess I am just very impatient. I wanted to walk in there and yell at him. I will give it a few more months and hope for the best! thanks again!

I have been writting about my post op hump on several forums.I have been upset and sad over my results. Today I went to my 1 month post op with my PS. I asked him whats the deal with the hump I paid you to remove, If its swelling why does it feel hard like bone? Well he did confirm that it's bone and he didn't rasp enough of the bone off. As mad as I've been about the hump, and I did give him a piece of my mind, I was glad he did not jerk me around and tell me it was swelling. Well he gave me a shot and it evened out. He is going to give me another in a month and one at 1 year. PS said that if in a year I was still not satisfied he will do a small closed procedure to rasp the rest of the bone. I am only one month post op so I do still have alot of swelling. Hey but the shot really worked and did not hurt at all.

Wow... Sorry Unhappy in TX. That sux. I am nervous too. I have an appointment to see my ENT on the 15th. I still have the bump. It's been 6 weeks today. I wonder if he will offer the shot. What's in the shot? I am still sore--not to mention I have a cold now and it hurts to blow and wipe my nose still. I wonder how long I will be tender?

I believe it was silicon. You really cant see the hump anymore but I know it's there and thats not what I paid for. I'm really upset I asked the Dr. why this happened I specifictly told him I wanted my hump removed, he said he just didnt rasp enough of the bone,I am glad he admitted his wrong doing, from alot of the post I read drs. keep telling thier patients its swelling. He said the silicon would last for the rest of my life,I'm not so sure.I want him to do it over again, but he said there was no need for it because the shots would take care of the hump.I go back on the 28 of May for another shot, I'm going to talk to him again, but the thing is I'm going to come off as rude. I want to tell him that I did not pay for filler shots but for a nice nose job, Ive seen b/a pics and even some of the women who work in his office have gotten thier nose done by him and they look great, why not me.I'm scared to ask him If I do want him to redo the surgery is it going to cost me, again, I dont think it should because it was his mistake and he admitted to it.The shot did work, but it just fills the area around the hump to give it a straight appearance. I also asked him when was I going to be able to breath right again, he asked me what was wrong with my breathing, I was thinking to myself oh great not this to.Well good luck on your appointment, see what your doc tells you and get back to me.

you know what-- I would demand him to fix it! What I don't understand is how it's even possible for the bump to be there if he broke your nose. It's considered open rhinoplasty right? I watched the procedure on you tube and it doesn't seem possible for the bump to be there. I had closed rhino and it makes much more sense to me that he could have not gotten enough bone rasped down. From what I have heard surgeons have 90 days to agree to another surgery. Don't worry about making him mad. This is your nose on your face! I think if you just tell him that your expectations were not met and it's not personal... a good surgeon would strive to meet your realistic needs. And having a nose job to fix the bump means REMOVING the entire bump. I still don't like mine. I am anxious to see what my guy says. I only paid 450- but I will ask him to fix it if it's not better soon. Can you send any pictures of before and after of your self? I would love to see if mine looks like yours : ) I am so glad you are telling your story here!

I go back May 28 and I am going to talk to him about a redo. I sound like a scrathed CD (broken record:)I first went with him just to get rid of the hump so he said he was going to do closed rhino.Day of surgery 4/8/09 he said he was going to do an open rhino to break the bone narrow the bridge and br ing up the tip.Well the bridge is narrow the tip is up, which I like, but I still have a very little hump.I'm sure he can do a closed rhino just to rasp what was left the ? is if he willing to do it. I've always been the kind of person who doesn't like to offend ,so I keep my mouth shut but not this time.Your right I did spend alot of money and I should get what I Paid for.Paranoid, let me know what you think about how I want to approach him with my delema.I want to tell him to put himself in my shoes, how would he feel if he paid alot of money, which doesn't come along to often, on a dream he's alway had and was told "your going to be so pleased with the results. your going to look beautiful" and then 3weeks later say oops I guess I did't rasp enough of the bone off, don't worry I'll just give you shots. Also if he did an open rhino how could this happen, how could he miss the remaining bone.I could have done so much more with that money, by my kids more clothes fix up our house but no I wanted a nose job to make me feel better about myself, and that what I get. I'm just really worried he's not going to want to do it and not charge me for it.What can I do if he refuses can I sue him, can I slam his name all over the place.

I think honesty is the best approach. Tell him just what you typed. It's perfect. He should have no problem doing a closed rhino. I CAN"T beleive he changed from a closed to an open on your surgery day. That is crazy. The details of the surgery should have been figured out before! And by the way-- the rasping healing hurts. It's still sore and swollen. I know how you feel though-- it's worth it to get the results. I would go through it again if he said its still bone and not swelling. Because it was so expensive and you put yourself before your family (as did I) there's a lot of guilt and anger -which leads to feeling depressed! Get it fixed so all the pain, time and money wasn't a waste! Update me on how it goes :)

Thank you AZ.I as I mention I'm on 3 forums and you are the only one who continues to respond to my gripes. I'm sure everything will work out for both of us.Even though my nose is not what I wanted, yet, It is better then what it was. I'm not to computer friendly so I need to learn how to be able to post pictures. My nose is really oily now and I get strange little white head looking zits on it.Funny, I use to be able to scrath the inside my nose with my thumb , when I had an itch and didnt want to look to conspicuous, now it won't fit:)Happy Healing!

Yeah you are the only one that I go back and forth with too :) I think my skin is awful now too. I think because it's swollen the pores are huge and I can see all the black heads. I woke up this morning and the profile looked better. Maybe it's because my kids let me sleep past 5 am. I know by the end of the day the bump will grow because I'm cleaning all day. I feel like an alien. I have never had a body part change from day to day.... I probably sound very silly.

I'm glad your swelling is going down.I asked the Dr.s on this forum about the injections of silicon and they advise me not to get them, they can cause more damage, that could really be difficult to fix.I'm going to ask him for a revision. It looks like he just needs to rasp a little of the bone off and then it will look stright, from between my eyebrow to the tip of my nose.I'm told I have to wait 4-6 months before a revision can be done,if so I hope the hump goes down on it's own by then and I don't have to go throu this again. I wrote him a 3 page letter I'm going to read to him on my next visit, so I won't forget a single word, It starts off " I was hoping this would have been a thank you card, but instead" Then I go off into what I wanted, What I paid, and what I got.I just hope I can get throu the letter without loosing it and start to cry, who knows maybe that will help me more.HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!

Thanks TX. I am so glad you aske the quesion about the injections. I won't even ask my dr to get the shots. they sound scary. I am proud of you for writing the letter. I think once you read it all to him he will absolutely realize how important it is to you. Please let me know how he reacts to your letter. epecially if he is going to charge you. If he agrees to to the closed rasping for free, make sure and get something in writing.... just incase he moves away, doesn't remember you, or disapears. I'm always nervous trusting people. : ( I will let you know what my dr says on Friday. I am 90% sure I will still have a bump after the "swelling" goes down. I just don't see how it's possible not to be bone. I am nervous to talk to my dr. The main reason I had the surgery was to help with my breathing and reducing my enlarged turbinates. I know I will annoy him talking about the appearance. After all, he's an ENT (also certified PS).... HAppy Mother's day to you too : )

Hey TX: Ok so I had closed rhinoplasty to file down the bone. the dr said he got 99% of it down. Im 3 months post op and I went to the dr and he said the bump that i still have is scar tissue. So all the money and pain to file it down- got replaced with scar tissue. and there's nothing i can do about it without going in for more surgery. im so sad

Hi AZ, I was wondering where you went. So are you going for the surgery and If so is the doc going to charge you?I'm feeling better about my nose, still have a slight bump ,but not as bad. I'm still hopeful it will go down more because it has changed alot since my paniced prior posts. What can be done about your scar tissue? how do you get rid of that?

TX: he's a young ENT in Surprise AZ. He is a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon too. I have a call into the insurance people to see what he will charge me. I'm glad yours is getting better. There's nothing I can do about the scar tissue (I dont think) unless I have the surgery. He's a really nice dr. and I think he did the best he could. I just wish I would have known about the scar tissue-it looks about the same as it did proir to my surgery. I sat in his office and cried. I sound silly- it's just a nose right???! But it was important to me! You know...

Ralph: we are in the same boat! I am obsessing over the stupid bump. I found a few profile shots 3 days after surgery and there was a slight bump. I do think it's swelling. It's hard to believe.... but all we can do is wait and pray!!! Did you have closed rhinoplasty? I did. With septoplasty and turbinate reduction. What all did you have done?

I'm going throu the same thing. I have wanted rhino a very long time, to remove the hump on my nose I am two weeks post-op and still have an obvious hump. Now it's at the top of my bridge. The Dr. says it swelling and will go away, but I'm worried it won't because it feels hard like bone,I keep thinking he didn't shave enough of the hump. It's really becoming an obsession being on the internet wanting to hear from ppl who had the same problem, and that their hump did go away, I know only time will tell, and thats the hardest part is waiting for the final results. There are no happy before and after pics here. Yet.

Unhappy in TX: I am so glad I am not the only one! I am 3 weeks today and I still have the bump. But it looks different than before so I am praying that it is just swelling! It still hurts whrn I touch it. I understand the obsession about checking the net. So far, you and Ralph are the only people who are going through this like me!!! My next appointment to see my ENT is 5/5/09. If it's not down by then.... well there't not much I can do. Did you have other work done besides the closed rhinoplasty? I had septo and turbinate reduction....

Paranoid in AZ. This is crazy! Today(4/23/09), I couldn't take it anymore. I called my PS's office at 10:00 a.m. and told them I was very worried about the bump on my nose, that it felt hard like bone and was worried it was not going to go away. Also how I was embarrassed to face the ppl who know I had Rhino, because $4,200 later, my nose looks the same. I could have been driving around in a nice little used car. They asked me if I could go in at 1:00, I have a list of ? I want to ask. After I hung up, I felt like an idot, I know what he's going to say "It's swelling, BE PATIENT YOUR ONLY 2 WEEKS OUT", and then he'll probly lable me a psychotic, worry wart patient, which I kind of am,So I called them back, apologized for freaking out and canceled, I told them I'll just go ahead and keep my original 1 month post-op appointment, which is also 5/5/09 like yours.Keep me posted!

Unhappy: I was 3 weeks last Wednesday and it still looks the same. I am taking pictures every Wednesday and comparing them week by week. I sound insane but oh- well. I got lucky with my ENT. He did septoplasty, turbinate reduction and shaved the bone down and only charged me 500- for the extra time in the O.R. If I would have spend 4200. I would act just like you! If you aren't happy with the outcome. I have been told surgeons have a 90 day window to approve another surgery. So if it's the same in your state, you have 90 days to complain and get him to agree to another surgery-free of charge.... did he break your nose?
