Successful weight loss after TT

By Trifecta on 01 Mar 2011

Hello! I'm scheduled for a breast augmentation, TT, and outer thigh lipo in 3 weeks. I've been continuously losing weight, but will not make my goal wt in time (currently at 175, goal of 145). Due to my schedule, I don't have the option of pushing back the surgery date. I would like to lose another 25-30lbs post op and was wondering if anyone has done this successfully without totally "wasting" their procedures (i.e reclaiming belly sag). I am 5'8, 28 years old, and very pear-shaped, carrying the majority of my weight in my hips, thighs, and butt. Which leaves me optimistic that if I was to lose another 30lbs it would primarily come from those areas. I've discussed it with my PS and he really didn't seem too concerned with the post-op weight loss plans. I know that most of the PS's on this site recommend getting to your ideal body weight first, but I was just wondering if anyone did in fact lose weight after their procedures with limited changes in their post-op results. Thanks!

Hi Trifecta,
I am also pair shaped and same weight but 2" shorter!
My surgeon was not concerned about my weight either. (I have time crichardonstraint as well)
I truly believe and hope it comes true that since the majority of our weight is not on the tummy, it will just HAVE to come off the butt and thigh region!
So I too would love to hear from anyone who has lost weight post-op please.

Tried to type time constraint! Sorry, major typo.

Oh, I'm a little scared that I'm only going to make myself look MORE like a pair! I would love lipo on outer thigh and bigger boobs but just don' t have the money right now... .but I sure will be happy to lose that skin that sits on my lap!

I'm only 4 weeks post op, so haven't finished yet. I went in at 154, and would have preferred to be under 140, but knew I'd never get there.

My PS wasn't worried, because he didn't feel I had to much extra weight.

I am now at 140, but he did tell me to expect to gain some back, because all I've been doing is sitting around and eating. He feels I should lose some more once I'm back walking more.

Hopefully, I'll lose it off my lower butt and thighs!!

Now THIS is good news Country Gal! :-)

Ditto! I would love to hear successful post TT dieting stories. Those girls are prob too busy running around in their skinny jeans right now! (Hopefully) ;-)

well I am 2 weeks post op and I am now 5 pounds less than what I was when I started.
I hope to hear from others on this issue because I would like to lose more weight, approx.. 10 more pounds

Thanks Susanne3692! This helps some... I feel like there are mixed reviews on this site; most likely because everyone is different... I also assume if you are larger, like me and not close to your ideal weight, you probably will lose (maybe), than a person who is at or close to the ideal... I am sure swelling is even more scary for them because they are already small and seeing there body much larger is probably horrifying. I'm just waiting for a date and at this point, I just want to #1 Be alive and HEALTHY #2 Look and feel great so I can continue to exercise!

I did lose weight after my TT, but then again, I started out being very close to my goal weight. I'm 5'7" and pre-op weighed 135lbs. Now at 10 weeks post op, I weigh 125lbs and I'm not trying to lose anymore but maintain.

Everyone is different; everyone heals differently; and I could not wait to get back to my full workout schedule which I was able to achieve very quickly.

My advice would be to focus on healing first and then getting back to your diet & exercice routine. Good Luck!

I am 159 now and at 5'1" I am a pretty chunky monkey... I expressed this concern to my PS who said that weight loss will only further inhance my results. I think so long as you dont have massive weight to lose, your new taught skin should be able to accomidate 20-30lb weight loss. The 'new'skin covering your belly should be the "good skin" Lol not the saggy skin so, that should respond normally to minor to moderate weight loss.... but, thats just what I am thinking and hoping:)

I was 30lbs overweight when I had my FTT on March 1st, im 3wks 2 days post op and I've lost 5lbs, by eating healthy lots of fruits and veggies, no salty, fatty, greasy foods and drinking water lots and lots of water! no more pop or sugary drinks. I'm def hoping to lose more as I go, I know I've gained some from the swelling. I went into surgery at 155lbs and am down to 150lbs. I'm not allowed to exercise yet, just "normal" activities and NO lifting yet either.

Way to go; keep it up!

Hey Trifecta, there are some good videos on youtube...if you search for tummy tuck results, you will find this one girl who has several videos posted over time of her results and feelings and so forth...can't remember her name...but right after tummy tuck she weighed 126...she went down to 102...over 6 months...and her stomach did not sag...she looked great.
i am mine 25 Mar 2011
You are probably talking about Becky!
ricanmami 25 Mar 2011
yeah i think you are talking about Becky's tummy tuck journey! she really inspired me to get my tummy tuck and she has amazing results
honey72 25 Mar 2011
Yeah that's her! Her videos were very informative! I watched them over and over!
i am mine 25 Mar 2011
On a side note- I was really disappointed after watching all of her videos... I noticed that she was promoting a TT website that she I guess runs or helps run... so, naturally I Was excited to check it out... They wanted to charge $10 to access the site!!!! And then now, she is trying to use her videos to sell some weight loss pills. I mean, I'm not being a "hater" but, I just thought it was a little tacky... Are you trying to share your experiences and advice or make money off people just because you have had a tummy tuck. Ugh. So, theres my rant on that! Lol
ricanmami 26 Mar 2011
really? ive watched all the videos and dont remember any website she talked about or weight loss pills........
honey72 26 Mar 2011
Yeah i never noticed either....that's definitely tacky if in fact she is dloing that. What I did notice is her videos have alot of hits...so she is pretty popular.
i am mine 26 Mar 2011
Well, the website was a link that she mentioned in some of her last videos and the weight loss pills are recent. I looked her up recently to watch some of them again since I am in the home sretch of my countdown and that is when I saw the weight loss pills!! Just turned me off...
Booka 30 Mar 2011
I just checked out that same video from Becky and the fee is $15 in order to join that forum.

I was also wondering if I'd be able to lose some weight from my legs and hips now that my tummy will be smaller. I just want a few more inches LOl. I've been running, eating right and all and lost 40+ lbs and have maintained, but no matter what this pear shaped body is stubborn!

So, someone has to know if it's easier to lose in the legs afterwards. I have heard that if you get lipo in a certain spot, if you ever regain, you'll start gaining weight in your other regions. The only way to get rid of fat cells is through lipo or a 'lift' type of surgery. When we lose weight, the fat cells shrink, but can always bulk up...those darn things. So anyways...I am hoping this is the case and if no one has chimed in on this, I'll have to update myself. I go in 4/27/11.

Oh and HELLO!
chinababe60 30 Mar 2011
I had my TT on 1 dec 2010 & am really happy with the results. I was 140lbs then. since I have lost 5lbs & tummy skin was fine, but went on hols & came home 8lbs heavier after 1 month away ( I said it wouuldn't happen but it did) All the new weight has gone straight to my thighs, bum & back. My tummy is still flat. so starting to diet again this week.
Country Gal 31 Mar 2011
When I had my first consult, the PS said he would lipo the ab and flanks. He said that losing the fat on the lower part of the bum and thighs was easier to do with exercise, whereas the pouchy belly wouldn't go away. He advised against spending the extra $$, and going through the extra lipo and resulting discomfort, for something I should be able to do myself.
