Spinal or epidural for tummy tuck?

By sane4once on 16 Mar 2010

I have been wanting a tummy tuck for 2 years now. I am 35 and a mother of 2. I am so done having kids and would like my midsection back. My question is this.... I have the money ready and have gone to 5 different doctors out here in Scottsdale Arizona, But I am terrified of general anestesia. I am so afraid in fact that I induce myself with a panic attack just thinking about it. Is there anyone out there that does spinal or epideral tummy tucks? If so, how soon can I make an appointment?

One of the PS I saw does it with sedation and a spinal, the other with general and I am wondering which is the way to go. Do you have headaches with a spinal? I am so nervous to get sick after a TT, because I always throw up after general anesthesia.

I just had my TT and Lipo with spinal anesthesia and it worked out just fine. When I would be more alert, they would just give me more sedation. The good part is that you don't suffer with nausea and other issues that you have if you undergo general anesthesia. For me, this procedure being done under spinal was one of the major reasons I went for it! For years, the thought of a TT was dissuaded by the issue of general anesthesia.

I know this is old, but I just had mine with a spinal and sedation and it was fantastic. They gave me something in the IV to make me sleepy, then did the spinal injection after that. Highly recommend it if you can have it!
